Password Reset Info

The password reset form will allow you to reset your password even if your account is permanently disabled, and it cannot inform you of the status of your account.

If you reset your password successfully and your password is still not working your account is likely disabled or inactive, or your browser is filling in an old password while you are trying to login. If you tried to login with an old password several times before going to this form you should wait a half hour before trying again as your account could be temporarily locked. Former students typically lose access to their email 3 months after they graduate, but can continue to login to MySAU to access needed information like tax information or unofficial transcripts. If your account was permanently deactivated in the past the only way to get access to transcripts is by requesting an official transcript through The National Student Clearinghouse.

If you are a returning student you typically won't get access to your email account again until you are admitted and ready to register for classes, but you can usually login to the portal sooner if needed.

To reset your password, enter the information below:

Last 4 digits of
Social Security Number
Birthdate
SAU ID Number
(6 numbers - 123456)

(Your SAU ID number is NOT part of your SAUsername)

  1. After you fill out the Reset Password form, you will get a randomly-generated 12 character password. Use it for MySAU, Email, Blackboard, etc.
  2. If you have saved your old password in your web browser, you will need to remove the old password. Find instructions for deleting saved passwords here.
  3. If you want to change the new password to something you will remember, click the "Change My Password" link on the page that displays your newly reset password
  4. Enter your SAUsername, system-generated password once and your new, preferred password twice.
